Project Details
Metagenomic sequencing of ambulances from across the US was performed to characterize the microbial communities present in these vehicles. The study found that ambulances are a potential reservoir for pathogens and that the microbial communities present in ambulances are distinct from those found in hospitals. The study also found that the microbial communities present in ambulances are influenced by the geographic location of the ambulance. A Random Forest model was used to predict ambulance surface based on microbial composition. The study was published in the journal Microbiome and is available here.
